The 2019 Gold Proof Sovereign has Benedetto Pistrucci’s famous portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon is depicted on the reverse of the coin. The sovereign is made of solid 22 carat gold (Gold Fineness of 0.916), and weighs 7.98 grams. It has a diameter of 22.05mm.
The Obverse shows the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as designed by Jody Clark.
The 2019 gold proof sovereign was originally issued housed in a Royal Mint wooden presentation case, with outer maroon sleeve.Each coin has an individually numbered certificate of authenticity. Only 9,500 individually boxed 2019 gold proof sovereigns have been issued by the Royal Mint.
