The 2002 Gold SovereignTo commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II, a new design was created for the 2002 sovereign series.
On the 2002 Gold Sovereign Reverse, designed by Timothy Noad, is The Shield of Arms of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland within an open wreath of laurel, ensigned by Our Royal Crown.
Queen Elizabeth II’s fourth portrait can be seen on the obverse of the coin, designed by Ian Rank Broadley (initails IRB on truncation of neck).The 2002 Gold Sovereign is made of 22 carat gold, and weighs 7.98 grams. It contains 0.2354 ounce of fine gold.
