Queen Elizabeth II’s fourth portrait is on the obverse with a new design by Ian Rank-Broadley for the first time in proof sovs.
The 1998 gold proof sovereign was originally housed in a Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsule, presented in its Royal Mint maroon leatherette case, accompanied with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity.
10,000 individually boxed proof sovereigns were issued by the Royal Mint in 1998. (Aggregated with coins in other products/sets, the number issued is estimated at 11,349)
