With an issue of only just over 6,000 the 1993 Gold Sovereign is one of the lowest mintage Queen Elizabeth II sovereigns, so expect the price to be slightly higher than other years. Only Proof Gold Sovereigns were issued in 1993, no bullion sovereigns.Benedetto Pistrucci's famous portrayal of St. George slaying the dragon is depicted on the reverse of the coin.
Queen Elizabeth II's third portrait can be seen on the obverse, designed by Raphael Maklouf.
The sovereign is made of solid 22 carat gold (Gold Fineness of 0.916), and weighs 7.98 grams. It has a diameter of 22.05mm.
The coin was originally housed in a Royal Mint acrylic screw top capsule, presented in its Royal Mint maroon leatherette case, accompanied with an individually numbered certificate of authenticity (COA).Mintage: 6,090 (may include coins in sets)
