Kennedy is assassinated; Lyndon B. Johnson becomes the 36th President. Also in the USA there are race problems and the Vietnam War continues to escalate. C.S.Lewis dies. It's the year of the Great Train Robbery. The first episode of Doctor Who is broadcast in the UK and later in the year the Daleks make their debut. The Beatles release their first album Please, Please Me and Cliff Richard stars in the film Summer Holiday.
