75AD Denarius – Vespasian / Pax

The 75AD Denarius - Vespasian / Pax

Silver Denarius of Emperor Vespasian, minted 75AD at the Rome Mint. The date is derived from the fact that Vespasian became Consul for the sixth time (COS VI on this coin) in 75 and for the seventh in 76 AD. Consuls entered office on 1st January.

The Obverse shows the laureate head of Emperor Vespasian facing right. Legend is "IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG".

Edge is plain.

The Reverse shows the Goddess Pax (the Roman goddess of Peace) seated on a chair, facing right with a branch in her right hand. Legend is "PON MAX TR P COS VI".
