The 2024 Seymour Unicorn £5 coin BU - Royal Tudor Beasts - Charles IIIThis Five-Pound coins features the Seymour Unicorn, which is part of the Royal Mint's Royal Tudor Beasts collection. Commissioned by Henry VIII, the Seymour Unicorn stands opposite the King’s Lion of England on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace. It was Jane Seymour’s chief supporter.
The Royal Tudor Beasts from the Royal Mint commemorate the ten heraldic beasts that line the Moat Bridge of Hampton Court Palace. The Seymour Unicorn Five pounds coin was the fifth to be released in this series.
The coin is available as £5 BU, and in various weights of Silver and Gold.
Created at the request of King Henry VIII, the 10 beasts are: The Seymour Panther, the Lion of England, the Bull of Clarence, the Tudor Dragon, the Greyhound of Richmond, the Royal Dragon, the Yale of Beaufort, the Seymour Unicorn, the Queen’s Panther and the Queen’s Lion.
The Reverse, by David Lawrence, depicts the Seymour Unicorn. Legend is "SEYMOUR UNICORN" and dated "2024".
Edge is milled.
The Obverse shows a portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. Denomination is 5 Pounds. Legend is "CHARLES III D G REX F D 5 POUNDS 2024".The coin is dated 2024 on both the Obverse and on the Reverse.
