The 2024 Five Pounds - Six Decades of 007 - Bond Films of the 1980s BU - Charles IIIThe third coin in the 007 collection from the Royal Mint called "Six Decades of 007" is "Bond Films of the 1980s". This is the BU Five Pound (£5) coin showing the Bede BD-5J 'Acrostar' plane from Octopussy.
The 1980's gave us Bond films featuring either Roger Moore or Timothy Dalton. They were For Your Eyes Only (1981, Roger Moore), Octopussy (1983), A View to a Kill (1985), The Living Daylights (1987, Timothy Dalton), License to Kill (1989).
The Six Decades of 007 collection is a series of seven coins, each celebrating a decade of James Bond 007 film. The coins are released as BU, silver, gold, denominated as £2, £5 and higher, plus bullion coins for investors. Coins released in 2023 and 2024.
The Reverse, by Matt Dent and Christian Davies, shows the Bede BD-5J 'Acrostar' plane from Octopussy, set on a background of micro text of the names of the 1980s Bond films. Below is the original 007 logo. The image sits inside a wide border that represent the rifling of a gun barrel.
The edge is milled.
