The 2024 City Views Paris 1oz Gold Proof - Charles IIIThe Gold 1oz coin is part of the City View Collection from the Royal Mint, this one showing a cityscape image of Paris, the iconic capital of France.
The City Views series from the Royal Mint was launched on 28 April 2022 and started with the city of London. The City Views series used the image of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse for the 2022 coins, but the 2023 coins onward feature King Charles III.
The series is released in gold and silver. The gold coins are all limited edition. For this 1oz gold coin, Limited Edition is 150, with a maximum mintage of 160.
The Reverse shows a view of Paris with the famous Eiffel Tower in the background of building that show the essence of the city's historic architecture. The image was adapted from a wood engraving and lithograph from 1900.
The Edge is milled.
The Obverse shows a bare head portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. Legend is "CHARLES III D G REX F D 100 POUNDS 2024" (Charles III, by the grace of God King, defender of the faiths).Image credit: The Royal Mint
