The 2023 1oz Silver Bullion £2 - King ArthurThe Royal Mint's 2023 Myths and Legends series kicks off with King Arthur. The Arthurian series will continue with Merlin and Morgan le Fay. Silver one ounce bullion, denominated as £2, they have a diameter 38.61mm.
King Arthur (Arthur Pendragon) was the legendary leader of the Celtic Britons in battles against Saxon invaders of Britain in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. It was actually 300 years later that Arthur was first found in print. Born ar Tintagel Castle and married to Queen Guinevere, Arthur lived at the fabled Camelot Castle together with his Knights of the Round Table (such as Sir Lancelot and Gawain). King Arthur owned Excalibur, a sword deemed to have magical powers.
