The 2022 Quarter - Sally RideThe Sally Ride Quarter was the second coin to be released in the American Women Quarters™ Program.
Dr Sally Ride (1951-2012) was an American astronaut and physicist. In 1983 she became the first American woman (and the third woman ever) to go into space, and flew in the space Shuttle twice.
The Reverse shows Dr. Sally Ride next to a window on the space shuttle. Text includes "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" "DR. SALLY RIDE," "E PLURIBUS UNUM" and "QUARTER DOLLAR". Sculptor was Phebe Hemphill and designer was Elana Hagler.

The Obverse shows a portrait of George Washington facing right designed by American sculptor Laura Gardin Fraser (1889-1966). The image was originally submitted in 1931.Coins minted at the Denver and Philadelphia mints.
