The Shengxiào Collection, named after the Chinese zodiac, was introduced by the Royal Mint in 2014. Each year a Lunar animal of the Chinese zodiac representing that year is shown. 2022 is the Year of the Tiger.
The coin contains 31.21g of 999.9 gold, diameter 32.69mm and has a proof finish. Maximum mintage is 898, and 888 of these are released as a special edition. The number '8' is deemed as a lucky number in China.
The Reverse, by David Lawrence, shows a tiger, the 'King of Beasts'.
Edge is milled.
The Obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.The series contains coins in BU, silver and gold.
