The 2022 City Views Rome 1oz Silver ProofThe Royal Mint continues their City Views series with this image of Rome derived from a historically important design by the artist Jacques Alphonse Testard. This coin is the 1oz Silver Proof, denominated as £2.
The City Views series from the Royal Mint was launched on 28 April 2022 and started with London. The City Views series used the image of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse for the 2022 coins, but the 2023 coins feature King Charles III.
The series is released in silver and gold. The silver coins are all limited edition and for the 1oz coins the mintage is 2,000; 2oz is 1,000; and 5oz is 200. These coins are available (subject to stock) from the Royal Mint Shop.
The Reverse of the coin, designed by the Royal Mint Design Department, shows a panoramic of Rome based on Aspect général de Rome by Jacques Alphonse Testard showing the cityscape as seen from the top of the Janiculum Hill in the nineteenth century.
The edge is milled.
