The 2022 City Views London 1oz Gold Proof28 April 2022 saw the launch of a new series from the Royal Mint - The City Views series. It starts off with London and shows an image of London as it was just before the Great Fire of 1666, based on the 'The Long View of London' by Wenceslaus Hollar (1607–77) and reworked by TRM Design Department.
In the background is the Tower of London, built by William the Conqueror. The Royal Mint spent some years based there themselves.
Denominated as £100, this one ounce 999.9 fine gold proof coin has a limited edition of 300 and a maximum mintage of 310. Diameter 32.69mm and weighs 31.21g.
The edge is milled.
The Obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.The series will run over several years and the coins are available in a number of weights, both in gold and silver.
