The 2021 Through the Looking-Glass £5 BU ColourA Five Pound version, the second coin from the Royal Mint’s Treasury of Tales collection is the 2021 Through the Looking-Glass £5.
Through the Looking-Glass is a book published in 1871 by Lewis Carrol (a pseudonym of Charles Dodgson). It followed on from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (written six years earlier) and in the sequel Alice once again entered a fantasy land, this time through a mirror. In the fantasy land everything is reversed.
This 2021 Through the Looking-Glass £5 is a BU coin denominated as £5 and colourised. In the series there is a one-ounce silver proof (colourised), half-ounce silver proof (not colourised) and gold coins were also minted.
The Reverse of the 2021 Through the Looking-Glass £5 is by Ffion Gwillim and shows Alice talking to Tweedledum and Tweedledee, which is based on an original Sir John Tenniel illustration from the book.
The edge is milled.
