The Obverse is concave and the Reverse is convex.
Back in 1891 Dr James Naismith, a young Canadian-American physical education instructor (and Presbyterian minister) from Springfield, Massachusetts devised the game of basketball. The game was an instant success and within a few years had spread not only in America but many other parts of the World.
The 2020 Basketball Hall of Fame half-dollar was released as Unc, Silver Proof and Silver proof colorized. The family also included a silver dollar and gold coin.
The Obverse shows a group of basketball players. Sculptor was Michael Gaudioso and designer was Justin Kunz. Text is "LIBERTY", "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "2020". Mint mark 'S' for San Francisco division of the US Mint.
The Reverse of this version shows a basketball in a hoop. Sculptor was Phebe Hemphill and designer was Donna Weaver. Text on coin is "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA E PLURIBUS UNUM ONE DOLLAR".Image credit: United States Mint
