2019 Two Pound Coin - Captain Cook250 years ago in 1769, a rare astronomical event was due to take place, called the Transit of Venus. Captain Cook left Rio De Janeiro bound for Tahiti. There they built an observatory to study this phenomenon.
This is the second coin in a three-year series that will follow Captain Cook’s voyage. The coin has a 'puzzle' design which builds over each year.

The Obverse show a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. Edge Inscription: OCEANI INVESTIGATOR ACERRIMVS. The meaning comes from 'The most intrepid investigator of the seas'.
