The 2019 5oz Silver Proof - Queen Victoria BicentenaryFive-Ounce silver proof coin minted to celebrate the bicentenary (200th) year of the birth of both Queen Victoria and her husband Prince Albert in 1819. Prince Albert died when aged only 42 years old and Victoria mourned his death for the rest of her life.
The coin has a diameter of 65mm and weights 5 ounce (156.3g) of 999 fine silver. It has a proof (mirror-like) finish.
The Reverse is based on a medal designed by former Royal Mint Chief Engraver William Wyon, which was originally made for the Great Exhibition of 1851.
The Roman numerals denote 1819 and the dolphins and trident are symbols of the immense British Naval Power that existed during the Victorian era.
The Obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.SCBC: M17. The coin is denominated as £10 and was also produced as Gold Proof.
