The 2019 10 Pence Coin - L - Loch Ness MonsterThe 'L' coin in the Quintessentially British A-Z 10p Coins collection is the Loch Ness Monster. Nessy, as he is colloquially known, has never been confirmed to exist.
First mentioned as far back as 565 AD, many reports and photographs (some hoaxed) during the early 20th century enhanced the mystery. Despite its popular belief and numerous scientific searches and studies, evidence for the Loch Ness Monster has never been found. But we still love stories about Nessy!
The Reverse shows the letter L and an image of the Loch Ness Monster swimming in Loch Ness. The reverse was designed by the The Royal Mint Team.
The coin is legal tender and is made from Nickel Plated Steel. The diameter is 24.50mm and weighs 6.50g. (The .925 Sterling Silver proof version weighs the same).
