The 2017 50 Pence Coin - Sir Isaac Newton2017 was the 375th Anniversary of the birth of Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1727).
The Reverse depicts the Sun as the common focal point of three orbits of different planets and was designed by Aaron West.
Besides being one of the most famous scientists in history, Newton was also made Master of the Mint in 1699.
