Born Ida Saxton on 8 June 1847 in Canton, Ohio. She married 'Bill' in 1871. She died on 26 May 1907, aged 59.

The Reverse, sculpted by Renata Gordon, shows two hands crocheting. Mrs McKinley had health problems while she was First Lady, and she often sat in a chair and made items to be auctioned off for charity.
