2008 Gold 5 Pound Coin – Accession of Queen Elizabeth I

The 2008 Gold 5 Pound Coin - Accession of Queen Elizabeth I

Elizabeth I was proclaimed Queen of England on 17 November 1558 when she was just 25 years old. She never married or had children so when she died the House of Tudor ended.

To commemorate 450 years since accession, the Reverse shows the majestic Armada portrait of Queen Elizabeth I by George Gower, offset by four Tudor roses.

The Obverse shows a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.
