Home | One Pound Coins | 1992 One Pound Coin - Oak Tree
The 1992 One Pound Coin - English Oak TreeReverse is an English Oak Tree in a Diadem by Leslie Durbin. The same design was used in 1987. It is the fourth coin in the Royal Diadem series of one pound coins. A diadem is a type of crown and you can see one around the trunk of the oak on the reverse of the coin.
Edge inscription is DECUS ET TUTAMEN, meaning 'An ornament and a safeguard' (from Virgil’s Aeneid).
Obverse is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Raphael Maklouf.

The coin was in general circulation, now withdrawn and replaced with a 12-sided, bi-metallic coin in 2017.
BU, Proof and Silver Proof were also made in 1992.
