The Obverse shows Liberty, standing, left arm holding a shield and right arm holding the olive branch of peace.
In 1923 the coins were minted in Philadelphia (no mint mark) and San Francisco ('S'). Mint marks appear just to the left the date. The Philadelphia coin is common and inexpensive; The 1923-S is far more expensive.
