The 1881 Halfcrown - VictoriaSilver halfcrown of Queen Victoria. Minted in 1881 by the Royal Mint. Young head coinage (1838-1887). SCBC 3889, Type A5 which was a similar design to the type A4 but was thought of as inferior workmanship.
While the normal coins are low priced, there is a Proof version which is expensive, and a plain edge Proof which is even more expensive (FDC maybe around £10,000).
The Reverse is a crowned shield within an olive wreath by Jean Baptiste Merlen. The legend is "BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:" which means Queen of the Britains Defender of the Faith.
The edge is milled. Proof versions also exist.
