The 1818 Half-Sovereign - George III Half-Sovereign of King George III, new or last coinage (1816-20), part of the recoinage after the Napoleonic wars. Denomination was 10 shillings (half of one pound Sterling). SCBA 3786.
The coin was minted in the Tower Hill mint in London using steam-powered machines supplied by Boulton, Watt and Rennie.
Variants include a an 1818/7 overstrike and a much rarer proof version.
The Reverse is a crowned, quartered shield designed by Benedetto Pistrucci. Legend is "REX FID: DEF: BRITANNIARUM".
Edge is milled.
