The 1691 Guinea - William and MaryThe Reverse shows a crowned quartered shield of arms, with a lion in the center.
The Guinea started the reign of William and Mary valued at 21 shillings and 6 pence, but towards the end of the reign the value had risen to nearly 30 shillings.
The Obverse shows the conjoined bust of William and Mary.On some 1691 guineas there is a small elephant and castle logo below the bust; this indicates that the gold came from the Africa Company. These are priced only slightly above the ones without the logo.
