The Obverse shows a laureated bust of Charles II right. Legend "CAROLVS.II.DEI.GRATIA" (Charles II by the Grace of God).
Edge has raised lettering, "DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI XV" meaning an ornament and a safeguard, together with the regnal date in Roman numerals.
The Reverse is four crowned shields. Star of the Garter at centre. Interlocking C's in angles. Legend "MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX" with date divided at top.Image credit: Museums Victoria
