The Obverse shows the draped bust of King Charles II, facing left. To the right is IIII which is a mark of value showing four pence. Legend is "CAROLVS.II.D.G.M.B.F.& H REX" with a Crown mint mark.
Edge is plain.
The Reverse shows a square topped quartered shield contained inside a circle and set on top of a cross Fleury. The quarters show the emblems of England, France, Scotland and Ireland.
