Edge is milled.
The Reverse of the Oliver Cromwell 1658 Shilling is a crowned shield with the cross of St George in two quarters and the cross of St Andrew and the Irish Harp in the other two quarters. The Lion rampant in the centre is the Protector's family arms. Divided date above. Legend reads "PAX QVAERITVR BELLO" meaning peace is sought by war.Image credit: M J Hughes Coins
