The 1638 Sixpence - Charles ICharles I silver sixpence, struck in 1638 or 1639 at the Tower Mint in London. The coins were machine made by Nicholas Briot. First milled coinage issue. Diameter 25mm, weight is 2.92g. SCBC 2860.
The Obverse shows a crowned bust of Charles I facing left. The 'VI' to the right is the mark of value (VI = 6 pence).
