The 102-103AD As - TrajanCopper AS of Emperor Trajan minted at the Rome Mint in 102AD or 103AD. Diameter 26 mm and weighs 9.959g.
The date is derived as the coin is marked COS IIII and Trajan was Consul for the fourth time in 101AD and for the fifth time on 1st January 103AD.
The Obverse shows the laureate head of Trajan facing right. Legend is "IMP CAES NERVA TRAIAN AVG GERM P M".

The Reverse shows the Goddess Victory moving to the left holding a palm branch in her left arm and resting her right hand on a round shield. Legend is "TR POT COS IIII P P". On shield in two lines, "S P / Q R". Divided across is "S C". SC means senatus consultum, or 'by decree of the Senate' so the coin was an official issue.Image credit: Museums Victoria
